Tyres 215/65 R15: prices, tests & buying guide

How to choose the right 215 65 R15 tyres?

What do 215 65 15 mean on a tyre?

Here’s what the 215/65 R15 marking means on your tyre:

• 215 is the tyre’s width, measured in millimetres. So this tyre is 215 mm wide, or 21.5 cm.
• 65 is the sidewall height, expressed as a percentage of the width. It’s 65% of mm, which equals around 13 cm.
• 15 is the internal diameter of the tyre in inches (1 inch = 2.54 cm). 15 inches equals 37.5 cm.

In addition to these markings, tyres also have load and speed ratings. For your vehicle, it’s always possible to choose tyres with higher load and speed ratings than the original fitment. By clicking on your size in the list below, the next page will only display compatible tyres.

What does the C marking mean on my 21565R15C tyre?

Tyres marked with C or LT (Light Truck) are designed for vans and commercial vehicles. They can carry heavier loads — up to 1,800 kg (load index 128 or below). Compared to car tyres of the same size, they offer a higher load capacity, making them ideal for transporting heavy goods or for intensive use.

Key features of C-marked tyres include:

• High load capacity: C tyres can carry significantly more weight than standard car tyres, making them ideal for vans and commercial vehicles.
• Suitable for twin fitment: These tyres can be fitted in pairs (dual mounting) on the same axle, increasing the overall load capacity.
• Higher inflation pressure required: These tyres need a higher air pressure to support heavy loads, which helps ensure better durability and safety. Always follow the manufacturer’s recommended pressure.
• Reinforced construction: C tyres are built with a stronger internal structure, often featuring a 2-ply casing, to withstand higher pressure and heavier loads.
