The world's 17th biggest tyre manufacturer is the Apollo Tyres Ltd. The company was founded in 1972. The first Apollo factory was built in Perambra, Kerala in India. Nowadays the corporation has 8 modern manufacturing sites - for example in Netherlands, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Asia. The Company exports products to over 100 countries. In India operates a network of over 4,000 dealerships. Actual headquarter of Apollo Tyres Ltd. is placed in Gurgaon, India. The main brands of Apollo Tyres Ltd. are Apollo and Vredestein. The Corporation is known for its wide range of tyres for bicycles, cars, light trucks, buses, trucks, etc. The FICCI award was given to Apollo Tyres Ltd. for the best Quality systems in large industries category. In 2013, The Company almost bought the American tyre manufacturer Cooper tyre & Rubber Company for about $2.5 billion. The takeover was never finished because of unsettled legal issues. Nowadays Apollo Tyres Ltd. is focusing on the European market. The Company’s annual revenues for 2011 reached 2.5 billion US dollars.
